Zephyr Club 38th Year Anniversary.

27 April 2012

The first official meeting of the Zephyr, Zodiac & Consul Restoring and Custom Car Club as it was originally known, took place on April 29th, 1974 at an old Federation style home at Camp Hill, a suburb of Brisbane.
Club founder, Daniel Rumsey had dreamt for years of starting an interest group for this particular make of English vehicle, which was starting to decline in numbers on Australian roads. The Hot Rod Show held at Indooroopilly on May 11-18th, 1974 was the first time the Club was recognised by the public as an official body. Clem Keller's amazing Mk1 Zephyr was entered on behalf of the Club and consequently took out Top Wild Custom trophy. Painted Chromatic Green, this vehicle stole the show. That was thirty years ago and the Club is still representing its members by offering restoration and maintenance assistance with technical advice and locating spare parts to help keep these amazing vehicles on the road for some time to come.
The Club has a membership of approximately sixty and meets on the second Monday of each month at the O.E.S. Hall, Oxford Street, Buranda. Membership is open to anyone owning a Consul, Zephyr, Zodiac or the European Ford Granada. For an annual fee of $30.00, members receive a monthly newsletter and an active social life. Our Club regularly participates at car shows such as the All British Day and the All Ford Day and every year a Convention is hosted by one the many Zephyr Clubs in Australia and New Zealand.
